Question: What was the impact that 3D printing made on the world?
Other Questions I need to answer: What is 3D printing used for? Clothing shoes gloves snow glasses food (mostly chocolate) fake animal bones (for museums) artwork miniature models of stuff (landmarks, buildings, ect) toys cars guns that actually work body parts (for transplants) swimsuits for disabled dogs, a dog wheelchair guitars telescope for NASA Drones fans makeup lamps glasses furniture helmets candy phone cases camera lenses Are their any moments in history that 3D printing saved lives? A 4 year old boy was born without a hand. A local high school heard about that and printed him a bionic hand that responded to wrist movements. An 18 month old baby had a stroke at birth, but survived. But, throughout his life, he had these tiny, constant seizures called mind-erasers. They are called this way because they erase tiny amounts of knowledge. To fix this, the doctors needed to perform a very difficult surgery, in which half the brain is removed for a few minutes. This would be easy if everyones brains were the same. To perform a safer surgery, doctors scanned the little boy's brain and made a 3D printing of it. They performed the surgury a few times on the 3D brain to get use to it. When they did the real surgery happeded, the doctors were vey quick and percise. The surgery was a success, and now the baby is healthy and happy. A little girl needed a heart

Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© After a year of living in the new world, we are so thankful of what we have: 88 healthy people, 24 acres of food, 3 houses, enough bear skin to pay of our debt, peace with the Indians, religious freedom, and English traditions to learn and celebrate. The Indians and our colony had a three day feast to celebrate a year of survival. We called it Thanksgiving. Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© We have just returned from a full day trading expedition. We traded with three different Indian tribes. The Indians looked incredibly strong and brave. They wore animal skins and feathers. They admired our trinkets and beads the most. It was interesting to see the inside of their tipis. At first they wanted to give us corn and fish, but we insisted that they gave us bear skin. We returned to our colony with 48 pieces of skin. Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© We have been extremely busy with our spring harvest. We worked 5 hours in the field every day. We have been planting corn, peas, barley and weat. Before the holes were dug up, the ground is fertilized with fish. Believe me, it's hard work. My fingers and legs are sore and my hands are covered in blisters. So far we have planted 24 acres and want to plant 6 more. Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©We decided we must make friends with the local Indians. We planned to do this by signing a treaty and giving them gifts. The Indians liked our gifts and gave us corn seeds and land. Not one of us could speak their language, so we talked to them by having a fella Indian, Squanto, translate for us. We stayed with them for 2 days and were able to make friends with them. Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© During our voyage, we ate oatmeal, peas, pork, fish, beans, cheese and a biscuit called hardtack. A few days ago, Indians told us that we can eat berries, corn, and the strangest of all, pumpkin. My mom and dad didn't want us to eat these interesting foods. " Sweetie, I don't want you eating that. We don't know if they are poisonous or not!" my mom would say. The lack of food caused starvation and death. The saddest death was when Chalotte Wood died because of a strange plauge. Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© Today we began building what we will call home. First, we sent workers into the big woods to chop wood. They swung their axes to make various cracks in the tree trunk. Then, we made logs from the trees. We used them to built our houses. Our little homes had yellow thatch roofs and a fireplace to cook food and keep warm. Sadly, we only built 3 houses. Dear Diary
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© I know that i'm not the only one that struggled during the journey to the new world. Dear Diary,
©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© Our colony in the New World didn't have a government. Therefore, we stayed onboard our ship and made a plan for governing our colony. We elected my dad and mom as our colony leaders. They will be responsible for making and changing laws. We all agreed to respect their decisions. After signing the agreement we went ashore and set up sentries because we needed to protect our colony from any dangers. Fall 1620
Dear Diary, ©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©©© Crossing the great ocean was an adventure. At first the weather was great. Sadly, it changed and the seas were rough. At one point we feared for our lives because the boat almost cracked in half! The boat was tight and crowded, therefore life was very hard. It was almost a miracle when someone spotted land. |
