Dearest Cousin Martha, Today I write from our bigger house near the woods. It is very sad time for us because we lost my favorite cousin who was 2 and my mom.It is also is sad because we have also lost 7 other colonists . We have just got back to the house from trading with the Natives and it went very well because we got 3 barrels of beaver skin .We also became friends with the natives and they made rules for us witch are: If the natives hurt us they get punished, the second one is we hurt them we get punished ,the 3rd is we will help each other ,and the final is no weapons in meetings. Sincerely, Walter

Dear sister Martha, It is your cousin Walter , today I am writing from a tree stump that the "fellers"-the people who chopped the tree-cut down.Life is not good, we are sleeping in a 1 room house. It is also not good because we have very little food and the weather is not good.I am a person who occasionally chops down trees but mostly works with timber. The bad news is 1 of our 5 houses burned down and most of our colony members is sick and 3 have dyed. The other bad news is some of the people are still on the ship. The good news is we made a compact-the compact is the lion expedition -that gives a fair government. Sincerely, Walter November 13,1620 Dearest Cousin Martha, It is your nephew Walter, this is our first day on land and it is terrible. We smell very bad because we haven't washed our clothes in 65 days. It was terrible because we got hit by a storm and the main pipe came loose and someone fell overboard! Eventually, we rescued him after the storm past.It also unfair because the crew gets tons of fresh air and we cant get any unless we empty our chamber pots. I also think it is also unfair because the master gets good food and we get bad food. Sincerely, Walter |
