Dear Aunt Martha, We just made peace and traded with the Indians. We all so made a deal that if one of us hurt the Indians the guilty person will be handed over to the Indians for punishment. If the Indians hurt one of us then the guilty pilgrim will be handed over for punishment. Each group will help each other if attacked. No one will carry weapons during a meeting or trading. When we traded with the Indians we traded for 2 barrels of bever fur. There is all so bad things going on here to like the fact that 13 people have died. I hope that cousen will and uncle Robert are ok. Love Rose

Dear Aunt Martha, Last month we got off the Mayflower and Dad and some other men including Eleanor's dad went out to look for land that we could build sediments. Will Mrs.Hopkins little boy is one month old now. Eleanor and I love to go visit him when Daddy is scouting the land. Mommy really likes to baby sit Will and Eleanor and I like to help her to keep our mind off Daddy being gone. Today Daddy came back with happy news he had found land to settle on,so we made a compact called the harvest compact. We named it the Harvest Compact because we arrived in October. All the pilgrims have decided that Mommy and daddy will be the leaders. Then we built the houses helped log the trees. We ended up to have 10 houses, but then Dad was hitting the tree to hard and little sparks flew off the ax and onto the house we had just finished building (the one I helped with.) and the whole house burnt down. When we were getting Sydney and Bree, Blazic went into the woods to gather berries and they never came back. Daddy says that they probably got lost and froze to death because last night was really really cold. I going to go to bed tonight in a house worm and safe. The bad thing is that I will be sharing a bed with John and I will have his stinky breath in my face all night. Cathrine is lucky she gets her own bed. Love Rose Jackson 10/23/1620
Dear Aunt Martha, We finally got off that stinking ship! Luke Diane Guess what when we were on board the Mayflower sometime in between September 16 and October 23 Mrs.Hopkins gave birth to a baby boy. He's so cute! He has little blue eyes ,and he has a lot of hair for a little boy. when I wen't up on deck to empty the camber pot I counted all the sails on the Mayflower. I asked one of the crew members what the Mayflower is powered by. He said "Its powered by wind puck stocking." (I never talked to a crew member again.) When I was exploring the ship I found a room filled with big barrels off food I opened all of them up and found that they were full of oatmeal pees pork fish beans and cheese. ( I got in trouble for that one.) I wasn't able to go exploring for another week. I was stuck in a stinky little room filled with lots of people who get sea sick a lot so that makes it even stinkier. I hate being bellow deck because you get thrown against the wall's of the room. My new friend Eleanor Billington broke her arm because she was thrown against the wall so hard. After the week of tourcher I was finally allowed to explore again. I found another big room. I wondered what it was because it couden't be where the food is kept.( its not the same room. I was overwhelmed by curiousness and opened the door just a little bit but just anough that I could see inside. I didnt see any one in there so I stepped in side. It was a buitifull bedroom. Who would have a room like this on a ship like the Mayflower? I thought. I stepped farther in I looked in the bed and there was the master of the ship. sleeping so soundly he didn't here the door open and me come in. I better get out of here I thought. I ran out the door leaving the door open. I ran back to mom and stammerd masster own room. mom said Rose I think that is enough exploring for today. I wen't back to the room again with Cathrine the day after she was as supprised as I was the first tie I saw it. The master almost caught us in his room. ( we knocked over some lamps in the hurry to get out. (no one knew what we did.) Love Rose Dear Aunt Martha,
I am in Holland and Mommy and Daddy have decided going to the New World today. I am Going with Mommy ,Daddy, Cathrine, and John. I'm sad that I am leaving all my friends here in Holland. I hope I make a new friend on the boat. We left England because we wanted to Worship God our own way. Were moving because Daddy couldn't find a good job. I am all so sort of forgetting how to speak English. Im going to pack my favorite outfit a white skirt with pink roses sprinkled all over it and a white shirt with a big pink rose in the middle I am also bringing a few of my pink dresses.
